After a big career change from banking, I decided to follow my true passion to become a veterinary nurse. I started working within the veterinary industry in June 2013, qualifying in April 2018.
I joined South Lincs Vet Group in February 2019 as Head RVN at the Heckington Branch, but soon realised I thrived in the busier hospital environment, so in February 2021 I took on a new challenge and became deputy head nurse at the main hospital. Stepping into a senior role was a big change but I am relishing the new responsibility of team leadership.
I enjoy the variety of cases that the hospital environment brings, and working alongside so many wonderful colleagues I find I learn new things daily. In addition, I have a keen interest in wound management and laboratory work (especially blood!).
Outside of work I am a mum to a little girl who has just turned one, she very much keeps me on my toes! My fiancé and I bought our forever family home in 2022 and it has become a rather large renovation project, so that keeps us busy at weekends. I also attend a weekly art group, where I enjoy trying out lots of different mediums. This year I have turned my hand to gardening, in particular growing fruit and vegetables. Watching my seeds germinate and develop knowing that I have grown them from scratch gives me a real sense of pride. Reading is also very important to me, giving me downtime from a very busy life, although I don’t get as much time as I used to!
Sharing my home, you won’t be surprised to know I have three rescue cats, Maggie, Autumn and Nyla who I hand reared. I am currently in the process of trying to persuade my partner to rescuing and rehoming chickens, so watch this space!
