My career within the animal industry started 9 years ago where I began working as a part time stable hand for a family local to Lincoln. During this period, I also studied Level 3 Animal Management at Riseholme College. After the completion of my diploma, it was always my intention to go to University to gain a degree in Veterinary Nursing. However, I was presented with the opportunity to work as a professional Showjumping groom for Team GB and International showjumper Spencer Roe. I spent the next 4 and a half years travelling around the UK and Europe caring for top class showjumping horses.
Although I thoroughly enjoyed my time working as a groom, there was always that niggling disappointment of never furthering my education. So then I took the plunge and decided to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioveterinary Science - which I finished in August 2020. Following the completion of my degree, it was then my ambition to enter the Veterinary industry to try and work my way up to becoming a Veterinary Nurse. However, due to the pandemic, it proved incredibly difficult to find a job within the Veterinary sector, so for the next 10 months I worked as an assistant manager in retail.
In June 2021 I was presented with the amazing opportunity to become an Animal Care Assistant at Sutterton Veterinary Hospital. In the short time I have been a part of SLVG, I can say I am thoroughly enjoying learning new things everyday. I am extremely grateful to SLVG for giving me this opportunity and I hope that one day I can progress further into becoming a Veterinary Nurse.
Outside of work, you will find me caring for my 4 horses, ducks, chickens, cats, fish and rabbit. On the rare occasions that I have any spare time, I enjoy going to the cinema and exploring new places.
