I actually wanted to be a veterinary nurse from a very young age. I set up my own office in my mum’s house and made all of our pets visit it on a daily basis. But my family was keen for me to go down the University route. I took this all the way, completing a degree in Zoology and a PhD in Microbiology. But something still wasn’t quite right. My local vet offered me a job at his practice as, in his words, “you’re here all the time anyway!” I realised this was where I was meant to be. After a year in mixed practice, I worked for an exotic specialist in London, before moving to Lincolnshire five years ago. I have been working in small animal practice ever since.
I joined South Lincs Vet Group in July and have been working at the Sutterton Hospital. I have a real passion for cats and have done lots of fostering and hand rearing in the past, so the cat ward is always my favourite place to be. I also love nurse clinics and getting to chat with clients and meet their pets.
Outside of work I have two little girls who are 2 and 1, so they keep me very busy. I also have two beautiful cats and this year have adopted two rabbits from a local charity.
