My love of animals started when I was a very young child. After an operation I refused to walk, so my parents bought me a Siamese kitten which I called Thai Thai. I was totally besotted with him and he followed me everywhere. We had 19 very happy years together and he made me realise my true passion was for all creatures great and small.
At the age of 13, I got a job on a local farm helping looking after goats, cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, turkeys and geese. I did this after school, weekends and in the school holidays and just loved it.
In 1983 I started my own business travelling all over the country looking after other people’s pets and small holdings while they went away on holiday. Which was amazing and I met some very interesting people and saw a lot of this beautiful country.
Then in 1987 I saw a position advertised in the local newspaper for a nurse at Callaghan & Walker Vets in Boston. My dream job, which I am lucky enough to have been in ever since.
Five years later the practice became Callaghan Veterinary Group and I was made Head Nurse.
Then in 2006 it became Marshlands Veterinary Centre and I became Practice Manager in 2007.
Now we are Freiston Vet Clinic a branch practice of South Lincs Vet Group in which I am proud to be Branch Manager. I can continue to help clients and their much-loved pets, support my work colleagues and help with the daily running of the practice.
I have been fortunate to have had many pets over the years, from dogs, cats, Rabbits, Guinea pigs most of which needed a home and I have loved each and every one of them. Now I am a servant to 3 cats, who I adore.
In my spare time I enjoy gardening, travelling and spending time with my family and friends.
